Biography

Kat Kesty, MD, MBA, is a Board Certified Dermatologist with Fellowship Training in Cosmetic and Surgical Dermatology. She founded St. Petersburg Skin and Laser in 2020. Her vision is to create harmony between the most advanced Aesthetic and Laser Technology with unparalleled Medical Dermatology care. Dr. Kesty is committed to superior patient education and using state-of-the-art technologies to ensure the best outcomes for her patients. Her approachable and kind nature foster trust and genuine connections with her patients.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Wake Forest University, where she graduated Cum Laude and was selected for the Hobbs Award for Entrepreneurial Achievement. Dr. Kesty also conducted research in Theoretical Physics during her time at Wake Forest. After college, Dr. Kesty went on to complete her medical school at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where she was honored with the Charles M. Howell Excellence in Dermatology Award. She also completed her MBA at Wake Forest while she was in medical school. Dr. Kesty earned a concentration in Finance at Business School and spent time working as a Financial Analyst with Bourne Partners in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Kesty excelled at business school and graduated in the top 10% of her class. She was also recognized by Wake Forest School of Business with a Merit Scholarship.

Honors & Activity

Dr. Kesty is known for her innovative work with injectables and lasers. She has published over 30 academic papers in peer-reviewed journals on the subject of Cosmetic Dermatology. Dr. Kesty has always been eager to advance the skill levels of her colleagues. To this end, she has lectured to other Dermatologists at conferences and has shared her cutting-edge injectable (filler and botox) techniques at national meetings with lectures and live patient demonstrations. She has also written chapters for several Cosmetic Dermatology textbooks.

Dr. Kesty serves as a preceptor for the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery as well as the American Society for Dermatology Surgery. As a preceptor, Dr. Kesty hosts Dermatology Residents at St. Petersburg Skin and Laser and teaches them her unique approach to combining Lasers and injectables for beautiful patient outcomes. Dr. Kesty is active in professional societies including the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology, the Women’s Dermatology Association, Doctors for the Practice of Safe and Ethical Aesthetic Medicine, and the Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery.

Dr. Kesty is passionate about serving her community. She volunteers at the St. Petersburg Free Clinic on Tuesday afternoons. She has also been on 12 medical mission projects to countries around the world.

Practice & Goals

Dr. Kesty works closely with patients to develop a treatment plan tailored to their concern, either Cosmetic or Medical. In her practice, Dr. Kesty uses the latest technology including 75 different Lasers, Energy-Based Devices, and Cosmetic Procedures. Every treatment is customized to the needs of the patient with the goal of achieving the best results. Her education and extensive experience have placed Dr. Kat Kesty at the top of her field, and her dedication to Dermatology is only matched by her commitment to her patients. She enjoys serving and being a part of the St. Petersburg community.
